I was at a picnic weekend…

At this picnic I got to see one of my friends whom just had a child with their wife.

Now, a bit of background, before she was pregnant, there was a lot of talk about divorce between the two of them and the talks continued throughout the pregnancy (pretty severe talks where lawyers and a ‘cooling period’ were involved)

Now, the kid was born and without getting into too much detail was born with an abnormality…one that will require attention for the rest of his life.

So, seeing my buddy yesterday, we talked about the hardships ahead of raising this kid. I then brought up the divorce and asked where he now stands on the topic. He told me “We are no longer looking to get divorced”. I was very happy to hear this and I asked him how he was finally able to work everything out…he then said “no, we didn’t work anything out, neither one of us wants custody” (referring to the special child).

I’m SICK about this… what can I do about this?

Oh my, I have no idea what to say! Do they know about adoption? Uh, I am almost as sick as you…. Good luck, I am also curious to see what people think about this! It is just horrible.

Since there is no divorce in the Philippines, does that cause one or both to commit adultery?

If they are “stuck” with each other for life “til death do them part”, and the high cost of annulment is an issue, will it bring temptation to cheat?

It could cause a wife to become pregnant by a lover and the husband forced to support a child that is not his.

It could cause a husband to father an illegitimate child.

So, should the government of the Philippines reconsider the “no divorce” law?

Just wondering, curious, as always.
it is correct to say that adultery will occur with or without divorce. This is not the issue.
That was the question I asked. ( does “no divorce” cause adultery?)
If you had read between the lines you would have seen that I was implying that the “no divorce” law is out dated. It should be repealed.
